Mentorship is a powerful tool for personal and professional growth — both for the mentor and the mentee. In this spotlight, we're excited to feature Daria Chaika, an Operations Manager based in Prague, Czech Republic.
Daria is a Technical Project Manager in the Customer Support department, where she focuses on process optimisation, integrating new tools, and implementing workflows to improve daily operations. Her expertise lies in helping teams adopt changes smoothly and effectively — a skill set that naturally lends itself to the role of a mentor.
Daria's mentorship journey began through her company's Women in Green organisation, where she was introduced to the Women In Tech Global Mentorship program. When her company offered limited subscriptions to the WiT Mentor-Mentee program, she saw an opportunity to give back while also continuing her own learning journey.
"As someone who truly values knowledge-sharing and is passionate about supporting other women in their professional growth, I didn't hesitate to join the program as both a Mentor and a Mentee."
For Daria, the most rewarding part of being a mentor is the chance to be a partner and guide, helping someone gain clarity on their path and take meaningful steps forward. Seeing her mentees' confidence grow — and knowing she played a part in that progress — brings her immense fulfilment.
"At the same time, I grow as well — through fresh perspectives, reflection, and the strong, inspiring connections built along the way."
One of Daria's memorable experiences as a mentor was supporting a mentee who was transitioning from the marketing field into project management.
"What truly inspired me was her dedication to learning — she eagerly explored new technologies and approaches and was genuinely open to feedback and advice."
Even after the formal mentorship ended, they stayed in touch. Watching her mentee grow and confidently navigate her new career path has been incredibly rewarding. Daria was reminded of the power of continuous learning and the impact that thoughtful guidance and support can have during times of change.
Being a mentor has not only strengthened Daria's ability to support others but has also helped her overcome her own challenges.
"Mentoring helped me overcome imposter syndrome by showing me that my experience has real value."
It also encouraged her to organise her knowledge and share it more clearly — making her more confident and focused in both her mentoring relationships and her day-to-day work.
If you're considering becoming a mentor, Daria's advice is simple: go for it.
"You don't need to have all the answers to be a great mentor. Just being willing to share your experiences, listen, and support someone can make a big difference. You'll be surprised how much you grow from it too — mentoring is a two-way street, and it's incredibly rewarding."
Daria believes mentorship is essential because it provides guidance, support, and perspective that can be difficult to find on your own.
"Mentors can help others avoid common mistakes, explore new ideas, and reach their goals. Mentorship builds a culture of learning and support that benefits everyone."
Daria's story is a testament to the transformative power of mentorship. By stepping into the role of a mentor, she's not only made a meaningful impact on others' careers — she's also gained confidence, clarity, and deeper professional insight. Her story highlights that mentorship is not just about giving — it's about growing together.
